Ingredients In My Mousse Dessert Cups
- Chocolate Cookie Crumbs: Form the crunchy base of the dessert cups, offering a rich chocolate foundation that complements the creamy layers above.
- Melted Unsalted Butter: Helps to bind the cookie crumbs, ensuring a firm base and adding a subtle richness to the texture.
- Ferrero Rocher Chocolates: The centerpiece of the mousse, these chocolates infuse the dessert with their distinctive hazelnut and chocolate flavor, enriching the overall taste.
- Warm Milk: Aids in smoothly blending the Ferrero Rocher chocolates, ensuring the mousse has an even and luxurious texture.
- Cream Cheese: Contributes a creamy, slightly tangy dimension that balances the sweetness and adds a smooth consistency to the mousse.
- Superfine Sugar: Sweetens the mousse and ensures a smooth, appealing texture without any graininess.
- Vanilla Extract: Adds a warm, aromatic flavor that complements the chocolate and cream elements, enhancing the dessert's overall taste.
- Heavy Cream: Used in both the mousse and the topping, it adds lightness and airiness to the mousse and a creamy, rich finish to the dessert.
- Powdered Sugar: Sweetens and stabilizes the chocolate whipped topping, keeping it fluffy and firm.
- Chocolate Sauce: Adds depth and richness to the whipped topping, enhancing the chocolatey goodness of the dessert.
- Extra Ferrero Rocher Chocolates for Toppers: Serve as an elegant garnish, adding a visually appealing touch and reinforcing the Ferrero Rocher flavor theme throughout the dessert.

How To Make My Ferrero Rocher Mini Cups
For the Crumb Base:
Creating the Base Mixture: Start by blending your chocolate cookie crumbs with melted butter in a bowl. Stir them together until you have a consistent, crumbly mixture.
Forming the Base: Take this mixture and distribute it evenly among your mini dessert cups. Gently press down on the mixture in each cup, creating a firm base. Be cautious not to press too hard – a lighter touch makes for an easier and more enjoyable eating experience later on.

For the Rocher Mousse:
Melting the Chocolates: In a blender, combine the Ferrero Rocher chocolates with a bit of warm milk. Blend these together until the mixture is completely smooth. The warmth from the milk will help in melding the flavors, creating a rich chocolate base.

Preparing the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a separate bowl, mix together the cream cheese, superfine sugar, and a dash of vanilla extract. Use a hand mixer for this step to ensure the mixture is perfectly smooth and free of lumps.

Combining the Ingredients: It's time to bring it all together! Pour the heavy cream into your cream cheese mixture, followed by your smoothly blended chocolate mixture. Mix everything together until it's thoroughly combined and starts to thicken up into a mousse-like consistency.

Filling the Cups: Equip an 18” piping bag with the mousse mixture and carefully pipe it over the cookie crumb base in each cup, filling them to your desired level. Pop these into the refrigerator to chill while you move on to the whipped cream topping.

For the Chocolate Whipped Topping:
Whipping the Cream: In a tall jug, pour in the heavy cream, add powdered sugar, a teaspoon of vanilla extract, and chocolate sauce. Use a stick blender with a whisk attachment or a hand mixer to whip the mixture. Continue until it forms soft, stable peaks.

Adding the Final Layer: Transfer the whipped cream into a piping bag fitted with a decorative tip. Pipe a generous swirl of this rich, chocolatey cream on top of the mousse layer in each dessert cup. If you're aiming for extravagantly tall swirls, be ready to whip up an extra batch of cream.
Garnishing: Add a whole Ferrero Rocher chocolate on top of each cup. This not only makes your dessert cups look more inviting but also gives a hint of the delicious flavors waiting inside.

Chill and Set: Place the fully assembled dessert cups into the refrigerator. They'll need to chill for at least two hours to ensure the mousse sets properly and the flavors meld beautifully.
My Top Tip
The most important tip for this recipe is to make that the heavy cream is very cold before you whip it for both the mousse and the chocolate whipped topping. This is important because cold cream whips better and faster, and it holds its structure much more effectively. This leads to a lighter, fluffier mousse and a stable, creamy topping that will beautifully hold its shape when piped. If the cream isn't cold, you might end up with a runnier consistency. So, always start with chilled heavy cream to achieve the perfect texture and presentation for your Ferrero Rocher Mousse Dessert Cups.

Alternate Serving Suggestions
The Ferrero Rocher Mousse Dessert Cups are versatile and can be adapted in various ways to suit different occasions or personal preferences. Here are some alternate serving suggestions:
- Layered Mousse Jars: Instead of mini dessert cups, use clear jars to layer the crumb base, Ferrero mousse, and chocolate whipped cream. This not only makes a visually appealing presentation but also makes the dessert portable and perfect for picnics or as a take-home gift for guests.
- Mousse Shooters: For a more elegant and formal event, serve the mousse in shot glasses. Layer the ingredients as you would in the dessert cups but in smaller portions. This creates a fancy, bite-sized version that's perfect for parties where guests might want to try a variety of desserts.
- Mousse Parfait: Alternate layers of the Ferrero mousse with layers of whipped cream or even fresh berries in a tall glass. This not only adds a fresh element to the dessert but also creates a stunning visual effect with the contrasting layers.
- Frozen Mousse Treats: Pour the mousse mixture into popsicle molds and freeze. Once set, dip the frozen mousse popsicles into melted chocolate and immediately into crushed hazelnuts or cookie crumbs. This creates a fun, frozen treat that's especially perfect for warmer weather.
- Ferrero Rocher Mousse Pie: Use the cookie crumb mixture to line a pie dish as a base. Pour the Ferrero mousse over the base and let it set in the fridge. Top with the chocolate whipped cream and Ferrero Rocher chocolates before serving. The Chocolate Whipped Cream I use in my Cappuccino Coffee Ice Cream Cake is beyond delicious!

Common Questions
Absolutely! These dessert cups are perfect for preparing in advance. You can assemble them up to 24 hours before you plan to serve them. Just ensure you keep them refrigerated until it's time to enjoy.
If you don't have a piping bag, you can use a ziplock bag and snip off one corner to pipe the mousse and whipped cream. Alternatively, you can carefully spoon the mixture into the cups for a more rustic look.
The likely issue is that the cream wasn't cold enough, or it was over-whipped. Ensure your cream is very cold before you start, and watch closely as it whips. Stop as soon as you see it forming soft peaks to avoid turning it into butter.
Yes, you can. Although Ferrero Rocher offers a unique flavor, you can use other chocolate-hazelnut candies or even plain chocolate if you prefer. The texture and flavor will vary slightly but should still be delicious.
Leftover dessert cups should be covered and stored in the refrigerator. They typically last well for up to 3 days. It's best not to freeze them as the texture of the mousse and whipped cream might change.
Be sure not to press the crumb mixture too firmly into the cups. A light press is enough to hold the base together while still allowing it to be easily spooned out when eating.

Dianna von Estorff says
Just noticed a little mistake. Does this recipe serve 6 or 12. It states 12 Mini cups but in your recipe, in the whipped cream portion it states six Ferrero Roche's to be topped on top of the cups which would indicate there's six of them.
Fay says
HI Dianna! Yes, the recipe makes 12. If the 6 Rocher Chocolates are halved like I did in the pic, then 6 is plenty. If I can get them on sale I will usually use one whole one per cup.
