Why You Will Love My Brownie Waffles Recipe

The beauty of this recipe lies in its ability to transform everyday pantry staples into a gourmet experience, making it a sure-fire hit for anyone who tries it.

The delicious combo of brownies and waffles turns everyday pantry items like cocoa powder, flour, eggs, and sugar into a decadent treat. It's the kind of creative twist on classic ingredients that can make your day feel a bit more special.

    Ingredients In Brownie Waffles

    Brownie Waffles Ingredients Cupcake Savvy
    • Unsalted Butter (softened): Adds richness and moisture, ensuring your waffles have a tender, cake-like texture. Vegetable Oil is a great substitution as it lessons the chance of a dry result.
    • Cocoa Powder: Provides the deep, chocolatey flavor essential to the brownie part of the waffles.
    • Large Eggs: Act as a binder, giving structure to the waffles while contributing to their richness.
    • Vanilla Extract: Enhances the chocolate flavor, adding depth and a hint of sweetness.
    • White Sugar: Sweetens the batter, balancing the bitterness of the cocoa powder.
    • Brown Sugar: Adds moisture and a slight molasses flavor, contributing to the complexity of the waffle's taste.
    • All-Purpose Flour: The main building block of the brownie waffles, providing structure.
    • Salt: A pinch that enhances all the flavors, making the chocolate taste even more chocolatey.

    Truffle Ganache Sauce:

    • Chocolate: The base of the ganache, it melts into a smooth, rich sauce with a deep chocolate flavor.
    • Heavy Cream: When heated and mixed with chocolate, it creates a silky, luxurious ganache that drizzles perfectly over the waffles.

    Chocolate Whipped Cream:

    • Heavy Cream: Whipped into soft peaks, it forms the fluffy, light base of the whipped cream.
    • Powdered Sugar: Sweetens the whipped cream while its fine texture ensures smoothness.
    • Truffle Ganache Sauce: A small addition that transforms the whipped cream into a chocolatey, decadent topping, echoing the flavors found in the brownie waffles and the ganache sauce.

    How To Make Brownie Waffles

    Brownie Waffles:

Start with the Batter: First, you'll need to soften the butter until it's easy to mix. Blend it with cocoa powder to start your base. This combination is crucial for that rich, chocolatey flavor. Vegetable Oil can be used in place of butter.

Add the Wet Ingredients: Crack in the eggs and pour in some vanilla extract. These ingredients add moisture and flavor, enriching your batter.

Mix in Sugars: Combine both white and brown sugars into your mixture. The white sugar sweetens, while the brown sugar adds a hint of molasses flavor and extra moisture, giving the waffles a more complex taste.

Fold in the Dry Ingredients: Gently mix in the all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt with a folding motion. This method helps keep the batter light and prevents overmixing, which could make the waffles tough.

Cook the Waffles: Preheat your waffle maker and lightly oil it. Scoop the batter into the waffle maker and cook until they're done. Your Brownie Waffles should be soft and cake-like, rather than crispy.

    Truffle Ganache Sauce:

Combine Chocolate and Cream: Place chunks of chocolate in a bowl with heavy cream.

Microwave and Stir: Heat the mixture in short bursts in the microwave, stirring between each until you have a smooth, glossy ganache. This sauce will add a luxurious, rich layer to your waffles.

    Chocolate Whipped Cream:

Combine Ingredients: Start by adding the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and a bit of the truffle ganache sauce into a mixing bowl. This blend of ingredients is key to creating a whipped cream that's both sweet and richly flavored with chocolate.

Whip to Stiff Peaks: Using a mixer, whip the mixture until it forms stiff peaks. This process incorporates air into the cream, making it light and fluffy while the powdered sugar helps stabilize it. The addition of the truffle ganache sauce infuses the cream with a luxurious chocolate flavor, elevating it from ordinary whipped cream to a decadent topping.

    Assembly:

Stack your brownie waffles on a plate, drizzle generously with the truffle ganache sauce, and add a dollop of the chocolate whipped cream on top. This final touch brings all the elements together, creating a dessert that's not only delicious but also a feast for the eyes. Enjoy your gourmet creation, perfect for any special occasion or whenever you need a chocolate fix.

    My Top Tip

The most important tip for making this Brownie Waffles recipe successfully is to not overmix the batter. Overmixing can lead to the development of gluten in the flour, resulting in waffles that are tough and chewy rather than soft and cake-like.

When combining the dry and wet ingredients, gently fold them together just until they're combined and no streaks of flour remain. This approach ensures that your brownie waffles maintain a tender, moist texture that truly resembles a brownie in waffle form.

    Serving Suggestions

Berry Delight: Garnish your waffles with fresh berries, such as strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. The top with a scoop of our Mixed Berry Compote. The berries' natural tartness beautifully offsets the deep chocolate, adding a fresh and colorful touch.

Crunchy Toppings: Add a sprinkle of chopped nuts like walnuts, pecans, or almonds for an enjoyable crunch. Their earthy taste pairs wonderfully with the richness of the chocolate.

Creamy Ice Cream: A scoop of vanilla ice cream or caramel ice cream on top of the warm waffles makes for a timeless treat. The contrast between the cool, creamy ice cream and the warm, chocolatey waffles is simply divine.

Salted Caramel Drizzle: Elevate the dish with a drizzle of salted caramel sauce for a sublime mix of sweet and salty, enhancing the complex flavors of the waffles.

Sifted Sweetness: A light dusting of powdered sugar not only adds a touch of sweetness but also gives your waffles an elegant, finished look.

Raspberry Sauce: For a truly luxurious addition, drizzle a homemade or store-bought raspberry sauce over the waffles. The sauce's vibrant color and slightly tangy taste cut through the richness of the chocolate, offering a delightful flavor contrast and a visually stunning presentation.

    Common Questions

Can I make the batter ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the batter ahead of time. Store it covered in the refrigerator for up to a day. Before using, let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to ensure it cooks evenly.

How do I store leftover brownie waffles?

Leftover waffles can be cooled to room temperature, then stored in an airtight container or zip-lock bag in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for up to a month. Reheat in a toaster or oven for best results.

What’s the best way to serve the brownie waffles if I’m entertaining guests?

For an impressive presentation, serve the waffles warm with a drizzle of truffle ganache sauce and a dollop of chocolate whipped cream. Offer a variety of toppings like fresh berries, nuts, and raspberry sauce on the side, allowing guests to customize their waffles.

Can I use milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate for the ganache?

Absolutely! Milk chocolate will make the ganache sweeter and creamier than dark chocolate. Adjust the sweetness of the overall dish to your preference by modifying the amount of sugar in the batter or the whipped cream.
