    Ingredients For My Easy Hummus Recipe

    Chickpeas: The chickpeas are the star of the show. I love the convenience of canned chickpeas. For me, they are a pantry staple. Quick and convenient! using canned chickpeas is the reason this is an easy hummus recipe.

    Lemon Juice: Lemon juice adds a bright and tangy flavor to hummus. The acidity of the lemon juice enhances and balances the earthy and nutty notes from ingredients like tahini and chickpeas. The result is a more complex and refreshing taste. In addition, the acidity in lemon juice acts as a natural preservative.

    Olive Oil: I include the extra virgin olive oil in the actual dip blended up with all the other ingredients and also as one of the garnishes when plating and presenting the hummus.

    Tahini: Tahini is a paste made from ground sesame seeds, and it contributes a rich, nutty flavour to hummus.

    Salt: Salt is a natural flavor enhancer. It helps balance the sweetness of ingredients like tahini and the acidity of the lemon juice.

    Garlic: Garlic, although optional, enhances the overall taste of hummus, making it more satisfying and flavorful. It's a traditional ingredient in many Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes

    Easy Hummus - With just a handful of staple ingredients, including chickpeas, tahini, lemon, and garlic, this recipe is a testament to the art of speedy, homemade hummus without compromising on taste.

    INGREDIENTS

    Hummus
    • 400 g (2.44 cups) chickpeas
    • 1 cup (1 cup) tahini
    • 2 tablespoon (2 tablespoon) lemon juice
    • 2 tablespoon (2 tablespoon) olive oil extra virgin
    • ½ cup (0.5 cup) water cold
    • 1 teaspoon (1 teaspoon) salt
    • 2 (2) garlic cloves
    Garnish
    • 1 tablespoon (1 tablespoon) olive oil
    • 1 pinch (1 pinch) paprika smoked or hot

    INSTRUCTIONS

    Hummus
    • In a food processor or blender, add the rinsed chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and garlic.
    • Blend the ingredients until they start to combine. The mixture may be thick at this point.
    • With the food processor or blender running, slowly add cold water, one tablespoon at a time. Continue blending until the hummus reaches your desired consistency.
    • Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning as needed. Add more tahini, lemon juice, or salt according to your preference.
    • Scoop into a serving bowl. Create a swirl design with your spatula. The olive oil will collect in the swirls. 
    Garnish
    • Drizzle extra olive oil over the top of the hummus for added richness.
    • Sprinkle with paprika for a touch of color and flavor.
    • Refrigerate until ready to serve.

    NOTES

    YES...I know 1 cup of Tahini is a LOT but it's how I like it! Adjust to your taste.
    You may or may not need the full ½ cup water.  I like my Hummus on the thicker side and it will continue to thicken as it chills in the refrigerator.
    Every aspect of the recipe can be adjusted to your personal preference including which spices you would like to add.
    Garnish with additional toppings like chopped fresh parsley, pine nuts, or olives if desired.

        Sure! The easiest way to adapt my recipe would be to add some fresh roasted beetroot, I would add two. You could also used canned of fresh is not available.
